You may have that right. There are caves around Bethlehem that were used as
stables at the time. They were warm and well sheltered, so that would make
sense . . .

The idea of the human soul being reincarnated into a certain class, determined by how that person lived their prior life. The objective was that each class has it's role in life. The poor, the middle class, Kings, warriors and priests. The goal was to move up the class latter through each life in order to reach nirvana or extinguishment. That life on earth was the hell and nirvana was the end.
The whole problem with the Hindu perception of reincarnation is that if your born into the one of the lower classes there is obviously something wrong with you. It's given license for the upper classes in India to treat the lower classes or castes as lower than dirt. Which in turn supports ideals of ethnic or caste supremacy and even genocide.

BUT... if the lower caste person was an ant or a cockaroach in the previous life... Not a bad

Really? I have to look back into. I could have sworn that the Karma rule was to "do onto others", so it wouldn't have mattered which caste you were born into. If someone from a higher class treated your poorly, I thought it was supposed to go against their Karma. People were supposed to play the role and live that life to the fullest no matter which caste you were born in to. I'm not aware that it was accepted or on par with Karma to treat other humans like trash.

shinto, buddhism etc all talk a good game, but the history of oppression in Asian countries far exceeds anything we've ever imagined in the west.

The idea of democracy and individuals having value are derived from Judeo Christian principles. Rome and Greece had the right idea but it was still driven by the aristocracy.

Media and anti church groups love to talk about all of the failings of the church ie the Crusades and forget about all the good that the Christian church has done world wide.

religion, well intended, often "ironic' results.
I do not fault a man his faith, I just dont want him shoving it in my face, or ostracising me because I park my car in a different lot.
my perspective on religion changed drAMTICLY WHEN MY MOM DIED.

I BELEIVE THAT WE ARE ON OUR OWN, MY FRIENDS,
AND A SUPREME BEING HAS GREATER ISSUES TO BE CONCERNED WITH THAN THE HEALTH OF AN ATHLETE OR THE OUTCOME OF AN ATHLETIC CONTEST.

WHEN A PLAYER GIVES THANKS TO JESUS FOR HIS PERFORMANCE AND VICTORY, DOES THE OTHER TEAM IN THE LOOSING LOCKERRROOM FEEL JUSTIFIED IN SAYING, STOOPID JESUS, HE LET US DOWN.
i wish god could help me with my typing !

so, it seems to me that you don't dismiss the existence of a higher power entirely, but that you do not embrace the the idea of a loving God who created man in his own image.

The point is to give glory to God for everything, good and bad. I agree it is stupid when players say that God helped them win. I think that's ridiculous. In my opinion, it just makes them look dumb. But giving glory to God is a different matter.

Oh, and I don't think even Jesus could help your typing.

That is the kind of thing that doesn't make sense to me. But, in your opinion, does it matter to make sense to someone? Because, saying something like that, "Give all glory to God for everything, good and bad" kinda still falls in the "it's Gods will" thing. Basically, mindless living. or in other words, your giving up everything for God?

BTW, Smooth, I'm not judging your character. You do seem like the kind of person who takes care of yourself and the people that matter to you. I'm also not saying that your mindless. I just don't understand how people, can put so much faith into a man made book and a religion that has such a huge history of corruption and death. I guess the root of all of this, for me, is I don't believe that the Bible is the word of God.

science was just something created by god to make people think they are smarter than they really are.

Yes...............I believe in a higher power. Something that created all of this. A lot of religious fanatics do not believe in science. They seriously think Time, Earth, is only 5000 years old. I just don't understand how people can want to believe in something so bad, that they let it alters their common sense.
